PBA TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS PREDICTIONS
Today is the stepladder for the 2021 PBA TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS. I am going to go match by match and give my predictions for each match and why I pick who I pick.
Match #1
#5 François Lavoie versus #4 Sean Rash
Lavoie barely made it to the show. today He had to win a roll-off against Tom Smallwood to grab the last spot. Lavoie may have average less and lost more games during match play than Rash but I am going with Lavoie since he made the show last week and may be more ready for the lights to this early season than Rash. Also, Rash who finished 5th in this tournament last year being defeated by "The Shark" Kris Prather.
Match #2
#5 François Lavoie versus #3 Jesper Svensson
Jesper missed making the show last week due to some bad luck in his region for the last tournament. He left some bad leaves against eventual winner Dick Allen who lost in the Championship round last week to Troup. Jesper averaged about four pins higher than Lavoie in match play and I think Jesper will win this match that should be a thriller.
Match #3
#3 Jesper Svensson versus #2 Jason Belmonte
Belmonte missed the qualifying round for his region (I believe) and was apart of the broadcasting crew for the televised shows for the last tournament. I think he will be highly motivated to be holding up that trophy after not making the shows last time. Also, he bowled one of the worst games he has ever bowled on television in this tournament last year losing to Kris Prather 252-179. The Iceman can pull off the minor upset but give me Belmo in what should be another great match down to the tenth frame.
Match #4 Championship Match
#2 Jason Belmonte versus #1 Anthony Simonsen
This is a battle for the ages. These two have faced each other quite a bit and many would call this a rivalry. The beginner of the two handed style versus a young superstar who is two handed. The battle of the two handers should be a great one. Simo bowled out of his mind during the stepladder, averaging 239 to Belmo's 235. Simo has as much motivation as Belmonte as he lost the first match of last week's stepladder to Tom Smallwood. I am going with Belmo for one reason, I think Belmo wants to avenge his horrible performance in this tournament last year more than Simo wants to avenge last week's performance in what could have been a $250,000 pay day last week. Also, I do not want to pick the #1 seeds to continue to win. If this is the match then flip a coin. They finished first and second for a reason, they are both highly motivated, both are top 5 bowlers on tour, so sit back, relax and enjoy the rivalry match!
