Top 5 WORLD SERIES CONTENDERS For The 2021 Season
The 2021 season is fast approaching and this season looks to be anticipating some monster teams. Some offseason moves and rising stars will make this upcoming season, legendary. Let me know who your top contenders are in the comment section below. Here we go...
5. NEW YORK YANKEES
This may be too low for some and too high for others. There are a lot of question marks with this team. Can Judge and Stanton stay healthy? What Gerrit Cole are they getting this season? Is the rotation as a whole going to stay healthy? If they do, are they even good enough to win it all? All of these questions need to be answered before they can go any higher on my board. The team as a whole, when completely healthy, is a top 5 team in MLB as of right now. The offense can go with the best of them. The pitching could be good enough depending on the offensive production. The Yankees will be dangerous but it depends on many factors, especially health.
4. CHICAGO WHITE SOX
There are probably two camps on this team. One being that the White Sox are good enough and the other being that there still not there yet. The young guys should continue to get to better with more experience. The offense of this team seems to be there and close to elite if the young guys continue to blossom into their projected superstar status. The pitching staff seems to be good enough with there three headed monster. They also brought in a top three closer in Liam Hendriks. The same question as with the Yankees, is the pitching rotation good enough and can they stay healthy.
3. ATLANTA BRAVES
This team was so close to making it to the World Series last year. They added Charlie Morton to bolster their rotation. The offense is top three in all of baseball. The pitching staff has two blossoming superstars and they have some pretty good prospects that could join them at some point this season. The only question mark on this team is will their young superstar pitchers progress or regress? If they progress then they can easily make another run and if not then they might not even win their own division.
2. LOS ANGELES DODGERS
The reigning World Series champions look as strong as ever with the addition of Trevor Bauer. This team looks like a team that could easily repeat. Especially since Buehler should have a better season this year. In many peoples' eyes this is the team to beat and it is a very valid team to put on top but someone seems to be right behind them and I am willing to put them in front. The Dodgers have one question mark. Can the rotation stay healthy?
1. SAN DIEGO PADRES
The San Diego Padres seem like a team that can dethrone the Dodgers not only in the West but for the crown. They added three starting pitchers that make their rotation somewhere in that three to eight range. The offense is there with the young stud FERNANDO TATIS JR. who should continue to get even better. This team just feels like a championship team and there are no limits to what this team can do except go all the way!
Longshots (not top 5) in no particular order
Los Angeles Angels - Good offense, questionable pitching
Cleveland Indians- Not much offense, Top 5 rotation in baseball
NY Mets- Good enough offense but rotation needs someone to step up/stay healthy and join deGrom
ST. Louis Cardinals- Good offense but questionable pitching
Toronto Blue Jays- good enough offense, highly questionable rotation
